The Cheltenham Festival is a very much reputed horse racing event in the National Hunt Racing calendar of United Kingdom. This event sees the competition between some of the most well breed and trained horses from Britain and Ireland.
In the horse racing circuit of United Kingdom, Cheltenham Festival enjoys the reputation of being the most prestigious and coveted race. In terms of the fortune and wealth associated, it is at par with the famous Grand National. It is an integral part of the National Hunt Racing calendar of the nation.
The first Cheltenham Festival was held in 1902 at Prestbury Park, Cheltenham. Very interestingly, it still remains the venue for this race. National Hunt Steeplechase was introduced to the festival in the year 1904 and it came to be known as Cheltenham Gold Cup.
This event sees the competition between some of the most well breed and trained horses from Britain and Ireland. Consequently, it attracts spectators and attention to it. It is very much evident from the fact that the clichéd- ‘Cheltenham roar’ find its origin in the cheer and shouts of the crowd that gathers in this mega event.
Be here this March as it also includes one of the two biggest Hunter Chases of the season, the Foxhunters’. It is organized on the Friday over the same course as the Gold Cup, and is sometimes referred to as the amateurs' Gold Cup.
Every year some renowned mares and jockeys take part in this event. So, its your time now to see it for yourselves and feel the punch!!!
