Bermuda Festival of the Performing Arts is a cultural extravaganza of the island group that invites performing artists from every part of the globe.
The island conglomerate of Bermuda in the Atlantic off the Carolina coast is the home of a two and half month long celebration of performing arts collectively called Bermuda Festival of the Performing Arts. It is an international and trusted centre for cultural exchange and artistic growth with a mutual collaboration model.
The first edition of this gala event was held in January 1976. The festival has a glorious past with names like world renowned violinist late Lord Menuhin and then Governor of Bermuda the late Sir Edwin Leather playing the mentors and fore runners.
The start of a great legacy took place in the very opening edition when Lord Menuhin performed in that inaugural festival accompanied by his pianist sister Hephzibah. Since then, the festival has continued to offer a range of performances by a diverse selection of artists of international repute
Very often, this festival is look upon as a perfect combination of rich cultural bequests and a beach retreat. Performing artists from a range of disciplines come from around the globe to present a schedule of events to a wide and diverse audience. City Hall Theatre, Ruth Seaton James Centre and the Fairmont Southampton are abuzz with the rendering of finest performances by different dancers, singers and musicians.
