Awash National Park is one of the many well preserved national parks in Ethiopia. It is situated closest to Awash city and is only 225 km from the capital city Addis Ababa. Awash national Park covers a total area of close to 756km2 and was established in the year 1966. Situated on the banks of Awash River, the national park is brimming with flora, fauna and bird species. The wildlife here contains Soemmerring's Gazelle, Dik-dik, Kudus, East African Oryx and many more. It is also home to more than 350 species of resident birds. Apart from wildlife, Awash Falls is also an attraction of Awash National Park.
