Roskilde Cathedral is famous as the first brick cathedral in entire northern Denmark. Situated in the city Rosklide on Zealand island in the eastern Denmark, the Gothic style cathedral was built in the 12th and 13th century. The original structure was revamped by the reigning monarchs time and again adding their own ideas to it. Most of Danish monarchs since 15th century were buried here in Roskilde Cathedral. The cathedral was recognized as a world heritage site by UNESCO in the year 1995 and is home of the leading boy's choir in Denmark. By the virtue of its huge twin spires, the cathedral attracts around 125,000 visitors annually.
