Shey You will cross the Indus River, through the fluttering prayer flags and past the summer residence of the Dalia Lama as you drive to Shey Palace. Thiksey Monastery
Experience the one of the most beautiful monasteries in Ladakh; Thiksey Monastery or Little Potala Place because this resembles to the one in Tibet. It is believed that the design of this monastery was brought from the Tibet. Inside Thiksey Monastery, there are number of temples with grand historical statues and exquisite thankas. Hemis Monastery
After crossing the Indus River, you will be driven into the mountains. Clues to the monastery’s location will not be evident until you reach the small village of Hemis, which houses 30 families and is the most affluent religious institution in Ladakh. Dating back to 1632, when Lama Stags Tsang Raspa founded this monastic community with the help of one-time king of Ladakh, Singee Namgyal. The highlight of the monastery are the centuries old artefacts, which are preserved and catalogued in a small museum open to public. The chapels of the monastery house frescos and statues from Nepal, Bhutan, and Ladakh, which are famous among entire Himalayan region. In the early morning, you will drive to Pangong Tso Lake, the Lake of Five Colors. The road continues through the neck of Chang La (5,183 m). You will arrive at Pangong Tso, located in the eastern region of Ladakh, and is one of the largest and most beautiful natural lakes in India. The lake stretches over 120 km long.
