The first hunting season starts from October to February, and can only take place on Sundays, so huge amount of hunters come here from different parts of the world and prove their hunting skills. Make sure that you have hunting license as the hunting regions are strictly controlled by the government. Hunting is regulated by the the Ministry of the Interior, and they are accountable for the laws of hunting under the Game and Wild Bird Law. While hunting, you may see some small preys like hares, pigeons, partridges that tops the hunting list. Where, the hunting of small birds using lime is strictly not encouraged in south Cyprus, it can be openly seen in north Cyprus. The second hunting season normally begins in mid-January, and takes place on all Wednesdays and Sundays. During this time, smaller migratory birds species like Blackbirds is given more importance and disallows the use of hunting dogs. The over doss of hunting may have put many environmental groups in pressure but it is confirmed that this island tourist destination has a culture of hunting which has been passed on from one generation to another.
