Arenal Volcano

A sleeping beauty till 1968, Arenal Volcano today is one of the most active volcanoes in the world. Spewing its anger almost everyday in the form of red hot lava, Arenal Volcano is situated in the Arenal National park. There are many tour operators who conduct tours to the park. Not only is it a safari trip; it doubles up as a hiking tour that takes you different secluded locations of the park. Explore the lava flow trails or feel the warmth of hot springs. If you are lucky, you will be able to witness an eruption after dark. The bright lava bursting out vigorously and then flowing downhill calmly, illuminating the night sky, is a visual that cheers up even the most tired souls. It is not allowed to stay in the park, though there is a lodge nearly 2 miles from the volcano.
