Being established in year 1958, Golden Mosque is 171 foot high and is a matchless gold dome that can be observed virtually from all parts of Bandar Seri Begawan. Its name is inspired from the name of the 28th Sultan of Brunei, Omar Ali Saifuddien and is a true personification of Islamic faith. The prayers were offered twice a day in front of the assembled gathering to hear and hence take blessings. One can easily call it as an anchor of the Bandar. Golden mosaic, English stained glass, and the use of Italian marbles by the then architects have made it an unprecedented tour de force. Not only this, the Golden Mosque is phenomenal because of its spectacular interiors, Fairy-tale like Chandeliers that are hanging outside and inside the prayer halls and as a result keeping the aura of Islam alive in Brunei since ages.
