Chorten Kora

This is among the most lovely buildings you will see in Bhutan. Built by the side of Kulong Chu River, its construction dates back to 18th century. It is believed that this stupa was erected by Lama Ngawang Lodrö for protection against an evil demon. It took nearly 12 years to complete this neat and beautiful looking structure. It attracts tourists throughout the year but it is during the Chorten Kora Festival that numbers just swells dramatically. The festival falls on the 15th of first lunar month according to Tibetan calendar. People from adjoining country India too visit Chorten Kora during the festival.
