Association of Bhutanese Tour Operators (ABTO)

The Association of Bhutanese Tour Operators (ABTO) is the trade body and the recognized representative organization of the tour operators and travel agents in Bhutan. Established in the year 2000, ABTO is the collective voice and mouth piece of the Bhutanese tour operators who are its members. Working in close coordination with the Tourism Council of Bhutan, ABTO has been very much instrumental in the protection and development of the travel and tourism industry in Bhutan.

Mission

The primary and recorded mission of ABTO is to developing and promoting the Bhutanese tourism and travel industry with the highest standards of service, ethics and professionalism in line with the noble vision of gross national happiness. Apart from this one, ABTO makes representation on behalf of the members to the government and any organizations. It dismisses unfair competition without interfering in any way with initiative and enterprise based on fair trading. Last but not the least, to improve the quality of tourism and travel services provided by Members and other related organizations through effective training and use of information technology tools.

Who can be its Member

Any travel agent and tour operator who are willing to accept and work under the mission and objective of ABTO can apply for its membership.

Industry Standards

ABTO is a non-profit organization with a set goal to develop and implement a wide range of measures to help make tourism industry more attractive and improve the environment for both consumers and agents. To do it effectively, it exercises certain Code of Conduct on its member operators so that they offer fair and honest travel services to the travellers. A Board run by some of the most experienced travel experts over sees the work flow of ABTO.
