Tatev Monastery: Tatev

Tatev Monastery was one of the grandest monuments in Armenia in the 9th century. It is situated at a stunning location, right at the edges of a deep river gorge. The lush green surroundings will virtually stun you into admiring it. Tatev Monastery has a huge complex which has many buildings in it. Though a large part of the monastery was destroyed during the 1931 earthquake, a lot of it still stands intact giving us a peek into its grandeur. The interiors of the monastery is something that has to be mentioned separately. The walls were decorated with frescoes, ceilings intricately carved and the floors laid out with exclusive tiles.
