The Garni Temple

Situated in the Kotayk Province of Armenia, the Garni Temple is a beautiful monument that stands like a pearl in the pages of history. This temple was built as a part of a fortress which dates back to the third century BC.

The Garni temple mounts on a tall podium with a two-step base and is surrounded with 24 Ionic columns. To reach to the podium, you have to climb a broad nine-step stairway. The entire architecture of the temple is a marvellous piece of art and craftsmanship that ignites awe and wonder at the same time. Another intriguing factor is its position amidst rocky cliffs that worked as its defenders at many crucial points of history.
