Valdes Peninsula

Covering an area of 3,625 sq. km, Valdes Peninsula is an important natural reserve which is home to diverse flora and fauna. Puerto Madryn is the only town in the entire peninsula and most parts of the peninsula is barren land. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in the year 1991, Valdes is a habitat for animals like sea lions, elephant seals, Southern right whales. Whales are generally seen between May and December as the water here is warmer. Bird watching is also an activity here as there are nearly 161 bird species that are found here.
